For configuring Brocade San switch we use many commands. Brocade has developed the commands in such a way so that it will be very easy to remember.
There are two types of commands
Commands used to check the status they can be checked in User mode:
Commands used to configure used in the admin mode:
In both the modes every command starts with the component name which needs to be configured, or details of the component we need to know and the second part is what needs to be configured.

For checking the details of the switch.
Switchshow: For knowing the switch name
Switchname: For checking the status of the switch
Switchstatusshow: For knowing the overall status of the switch.
Few Commands used for aliases.
Alicreate: To create alias for Zone.
Alidelete: To delete the alias in the zone.
Alishow: To know the aliases created for the switch.
Few of Commands Related to the Ports
Portenable: For enabling the port on switch
Portdisable: For disabling the port on switch.
Portshow: To know the status of the port
Few of the Commands Used for configuration of Zones:
Cfgsave: To Save the changes done on the zone.
Cfgclear: To delete all existing Zone components and erase the zone configuration stored in
Flash Memory.
Cfgenable: To enable the zone configuration
If we go through all the commands mentioned above for all commands the first part of the command is of the component that remains same for all the commands related only the second part varies that is what has to be configured for that component.
